Heartfelt Thanks

Operation Love Our Troops would like to express our sincere heartfelt thanks to the community for their support. The benefit was a success, thanks to all the hard work, dedication and large turnout.

We are gathering supplies to mail out for the holidays. Carepackages ideas: salty/sweet snacks: pretzels, cheezits, cookies (boxed-so they don’t get crushed), trail mixes, Beef Jerky (still a big favorite:) sunflower seeds, nuts, Candies and gum. Easy Mac/Cheese, microwavable soups/dinners, canned, sealed Coffee, gateraid sugar and sugar free powdered drink mixes. Personal hygiene items: shaving cream, razors, body wash, shampoo, soaps, tooth paste, toothbrushes, dental floss, foot powder, lotions, chap sticks.. tissues, toliet paper, combs, hair brushes. Some fun stuff: current magazines, books, cards, puzzle books, stationary, envelopes, pens/pencils, art supplies, holiday decorations. Pictures and letters from school children, fleece blankets, single twin sheets, socks, tee shirts.. (This is just a sampling)

We will be marching in local parades and we’ve been given an invitation to march in the Patchogue Holiday Parade with the VFW. We are currently working on sending supplies requested to the wounded warriors in our hospitals in Germany and USA.

Veteran’s Day is around the corner: Saturday Novemeber 11th. “If you can read, thank a teacher. If you can read this in English, thank a soldier.”
